That special time of year
That special time of year

Every December I look forward to a magical time that comes but once a year. The joyous time where folks gather round in hopeful anticipation. The shopping of big name items that could bring joy to so many people. I am of course talking about the Baseball Winter meetings. The Annual gathering of Baseball owners and GMs brings hope to so many fans that maybe next year will be the year for whichever team you follow.

Baseball people gather in one luxury hotel and give each other awards and have meetings to discuss rules changes, tv contracts, and everything from expansion to PEDs. But mostly the winter meetings are an excuse for teams to be in the same room with other teams in order to discuss the trading of players and for agents to get in front of teams that might sign their clients. It is the anticipation of the trades and the signing of free agents that really makes the meetings some of the most exciting days for baseball fans.
The meetings got started on Monday with the St Louis Cardinals winning the Organization of the year. Meanwhile my beloved Cubs continue to be involved in just rumors as of the time I record this. But when its super cold outside and the stress of the Christmas season is getting to be too much there is nothing quite like the hopefulness of baseball to bring a relaxing warmth into our psyches.
