Robert Downey Jr signs a deal to continue to play Tony Stark aka IRON MAN in two more movies!!

'Iron Man 3' Los Angeles premiere held at the El Capitan TheatreThe Disney Corporation and Marvel films reached a deal with Downey to continue on in his role as the face of the Marvel Universe.

Marvel.com is reporting today that the two sides (marvel and Downey Jr) concluded their negotiations in a positive way and that Downey Jr will star in the next two AVENGERS movies, Avengers 2 and Avengers 3.

There was talk after the movie Iron Man 3 that Downey Jr who’s 4 picture deal had run out was done with playing the character. Downey Jr was the highest paid actor in the First Avengers movie making a reported 50+ million dollars. This was due to crafty negotiation on his part where he took a lower guarantee in exchange for a percentage of the films gross. ┬áThis negotiation which happened after Downey’s breakthrough superhero performance in Iron Man 1 was thought of as a gamble by many Hollywood insiders but now looks like one of the more brilliant moves in Hollywoods history as Downey has starred in the Avengers and Iron Man 3 under this deal. Both films are two of the highest grossing movies of all time. Downeys pay hasnt yet been figured out for Iron Man 3 but it looks like 40+million is not out of reach.

It makes you wonder how much Marvel is going to give him for Avengers 2 and 3.

In my opinion whatever it is they are getting a deal. Downey Jr as he proclaimed at the end of his first Marvel Movie …is Iron Man
