The Debt ceiling limit will be hit by September and we will once again have to increase it in order for the US Government to pay it’s bills. The last time this happened the United States for the first time ever didn’t automatically increase the limit and it hurt us. We as a nation were downgraded and confidence shrunk. Many experts feel we are still experiencing the damage done by not automatically increasing as we have done in the past.

House Speaker John Boehner is already threatening to hold the nation hostage in demanding his needs get taken care of before he increases any debt ceiling limit.

I dont want to talk about Boehner and his threats as it just depresses me. But what I do want to do is point out some facts that I think a lot of people don’t know. I feel this way because the other day on the show during a “throw it out there Thursday” a caller mentioned the debt ceiling and Obama. I pointed out to them that President Bush also raised the debt ceiling and they refused to believe me. Now that in itself is frightening. People disregarding facts is the single most dangerous mindset I can ever consider. Because of this I thought I would provide some FACTUAL information on Debt Ceiling Limit Increases. So here we go..

The amount of increases by President

Barack Obama (2 terms, incomplete) 3 increases

George W Bush (2 terms) 8 increases

Bill Clinton (2 terms) 4 increases

George Bush (1 term) 4 increases

Ronald Reagan (2 terms) 17 increases

In the history of this nation has been an automatic vote with no contention and every administration has gotten their increase automatically simply by asking ¬†except for one… The Obama Administration.
