Thanks to all of you who helped by donating books to the WTAX First Book "Gift of Reading" this year. Thanks to your generosity, "Gift of Reading" is able to give a book to every child in three Springfield Public Schools.
Thanks also to Marine Bank and Barnes and Noble. Marine Bank was a drop off location and the bank and its employees donated hundreds of books. Barnes and Noble not only helped First Book-Greater Springfield and the WTAX First Book "Gift of Reading" by hosting a book fair on December 5th, but it also adopted First Book-Greater Springfield as on of its beneficiaries for its Holiday Book Drive.
First Book-Greater Springfield is dedicated to getting books into the hands of children who might not otherwise have one. The books collected for "Gift of Reading" went to children attending Title 1 Springfield Schools. Those schools have a high percentage of low income students.
