The Old Capitol Farmers' Market is back open on Adams Street between 3rd and 5th Streets in Downtown Springfield every Wednesday and Saturday from 8am-12:30pm. Each week, through October, NewsRadio WTAX will feature a grower of the week. So check back often to find out the featured grower each week.
October 28th-Chad and Dana Wallace from Oak Tree Organics in Ashland. They have italian snap beans, pumpkins, carrots, lettuce, and turnips. They will now be offering an online market as well.
October 21st-Kathy Barnett of Barnett Farms in Jacksonville. Kathy has pumpkins of all colors, white, blue, multi-color, orange and more.
October 14th-Joe Weishaar from Weishaar's Farms in Pana. Weishaar has tomatoes, pumpkins, peppers, cabbage, squash and indian corn.
October 7th-Richard Zillion of Zillions Chili Seasoning. Richard has all kinds of seasonings to choose from.
September 30th-Cynthia Simpson from Chrystal City Herbal Products of Pleasant Plains. Simpson says she sells fresh herbal plants, the fresh cut herbs, and things made from herbs.
September 23rd-Amy Andrews of Greenthoughts Garden in Virden. Andrews makes herbs, soaps and oils from Illinois herbs and plants. She also has some other produce. Her products are also available at Food Fantasies in Springfield.
September 16th-Ken Ropp from Ropp Jersey Cheese in Bloomington. Ropp brings cheese they make in Bloomington. He says their most popular is green onion cheddar. In the store, Ropp says the white cheddar cheese which includes a mixture of tomato, basil and garlic.
September 9-Jerry Mills from Mills Apple Farm in Marine. Mills has baked goods at the Farmers Market including apple crisps. His orchard is a pick your own apple and peach orchard.
September 2nd-Matt Daniels of Bear Creek Farm and Ranch in Palmer. Daniels brings organic chicken and beef.
August 19th-William Heffington of Heffington Orchard in Batchtown. Heffington brings apples, peaches ans the like.
