Springfield Sister City of Ashikaga Honored

The Sister Cities Association of Springfield held an event on Monday night marking the second anniversery of the Great Tohoko Earthquake and Tsunami.

Springfield Mayor Mike Houston, who is also the Honorary Chairperson of the Sister Cities Association of Springfield, led the ceremony. It was to honor the memory of those lost in the disaster and the events that followed. Participants were reminded of Springfield citizens role in the recovery of the area, from donations to the SCAS Ashikaga Disaster Relief Fund, to the Red Cross and Mission Outreach.

Those present also placed a single memorial flower stem on a table while Amazing Grace was played. All present then observed a moment of silence.
