Woman injured in car vs. semi accident in Spaulding.

A 79 year old woman was transported to the hospital after the car she was driving was hit by a semi this morning in Spaulding. The female was traveling southbound on Williamsville Road when she pulled out across Route 54. An eastbound semi struck her vehicle on the passenger side, then ran off the road and struck the side of the Spaulding Police Department headquarters. Damage to the building is believed to only be cosmetic. The driver of the semi was not hurt in the accident, but the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with what was described as "extremely serious injuries". The Illinois State Police continue to investigate the accident. Illinois Route 54 has since been reopened to traffic.
