Illinois Policy Institute Releases Budget Solutions Plan

The Illinois Policy Institue has released a plan to solve a number of issues in the state. Executive Vice President Kristina Rasmussen says this plan is unlike the proposals form state lawmakers.

This particular proposal is said to have a plan to solve the pension crisis, balance the budget, reform education, introduce a spending cap and repeal the 2011 state income tax increase. Each year the IPI does their own alternative budget to the one that lawmakers put together. This is the Institute's fifth annual alternative budget. It's called the "Budget Solutions 2014" plan.

CEO of the Illinois Policy Institute John Tillman, along with state Representatives Tom Morrison and Jeanne Ives introduced the plan (HB3303) in Springfield Thursday morning.
