Gunman Arrested Yesterday Undergoes Evaluation.

37-year-old John Hatcher is undergoing an evaluation at Memorial Medical Center after shooting off a gun yesterday several times and then hiding inside his home at 3302 South Park.  Sangamon County Undersheriff Jack Campbell says a handgun could be seen inside the residence and deputies were able to hold sporadic conversations with Hatcher, but he cut them off at about 8:30am.  After communication ceased, the response team used explosive charges to open the front and back doors of the home, but the team remained outside the residence.  Hatcher gave up peacefully around 11:40.

Deputies recovered a Glock 9mm handgun, a SIG Sauer 516 rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun.  There was also evidence of an indoor marijuana grow.  Hatcher faces charges fo Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Obstructing Justice, Resisting a Peace Officer and Possession of Cannibas.
