State employee labor unions holding a summit in Burr Ridge
AFCSME Union Member Henry Bayer says it isn't just a summit for union workers. They've sent out invites. The "We are One Illinois" Coalition summit is Monday, Feb. 11, at the Illinois AFL-CIO offices. The group states that they want to develop legislation to address problems of inadequate revenues and undefended pensions.
In addition, Bayer says the number of prisoners in Illinois prisons far surpasses what the state can hold. Bayer attributes incidents like the three correctional workers jumped at the Menard prison recently to prison closures, like that of the Tamms Supermax. He says more could be on the way if something is not done.
