The House is getting the ball rolling on putting a concealed carry law in place. They’re holding two public hearings later this month, which are designed to give gun safety advocates, gun rights supporters and members of the law enforcement community a chance to offer their views on the issue. Lawmakers have just over four months to get a concealed carry law on the books. Right now Illinois is the only state in the nation that doesn’t allow people to carry guns in public. The House will hold its first hearing at noon on Tuesday, February 19th at the State Capitol. The second hearing will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 22nd at the Bilandic Building in Chicago. Seating at both hearings will be limited, and those who wish to attend will be required to show official state identification and pass through strict security.
