Sherman may soon pay less for electricity

The Village of Sherman is another step closer to seeing the benefits of electric aggregation. Tuesday night the board passed resolutions to allow the mayor to accept the lowest bid in its search for a new electricity supplier. Now Sherman must determine how many Ameren customers are within its corporate limits and then search for bids from providers. Village administrator John Swimford says the process shouldn't take much longer to complete. He expects everything to be in place by April at the latest. Swimford says Ameren customers will still receive their bills from Ameren because the utility will still own and maintain the power lines and infrastructure that gets the electricity to the homes.
