City Tournament Underway

The Praire Capital Convention Center is hosting the Springfield boys basketball city tournament Thursday. The tournament is great revenue for the convention center and the city, according to PCCC General Manager Brian Oaks.

The three night event typically draws four to five thousand people for the first two nights, and usually about six thousand the final night.

"It's always a great event for the convention center not only is it an electric event that fills up the building and there's a lot of excitement and action but it's always a good event from a revenue standpoint," says Oaks. "Over the next four days between city tournament and also a kids wrestling tournament we have scheduled for Sunday we'll have over 20,000 people in the building."

Oaks says the event is one of the center's favorites.
