Park district seeks to create new long term plan

For many years, the Springfield Park District has had a master facilities plan. Now, the Springfield Park District is looking to hire someone to help it create its first ever long range plan. The District has had 5 year master plans in the past that dealt with improvements and additions to city parks and facilities. Included in the new long range plan will be the board's 5 year master plan for the parks and facilities as well as the boards other operations and goals. Board President Leslie Sgro says that input from board members and the public will be key. Sgro says there will be a series of meetings to gather public input. The board hopes to have consultants hired within the next 90 days and hopes to have the long range plan together about four months after that.
