Springfield's Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport has finished more than $12.6 million in capital improvements. Included is a new entrance, at a cost of more than $6 million.

Springfield airport Authority executive director Mark Hanna says the improvements were necessary to make Air National guard base more secure, but the whole airport will benefit

Other improvements include lighting and HVAC upgrades. The airport has also added new firefighting and rescue equipment. Improvements have been made to runways and ramps with more work on taxiways planned to start later this year.
