Two Springfield Buildings Heading for Historic Designation

Two historic buildings could soon land on Springfield's list of historic landmarks.

The Booth and McFadden buildings on east Monroe will likely get the designation at next week's city council meeting.

A local designation allows developers to get rebates on building materials, receive property taxes for up to eight years and other benefits. It also makes it easier to be placed on the National Register.

Both buildings are being rehabbed for retail and residential space.
