Illinois Congressman Doubts Much Will Be Done On Gun Control.

The vice president is to announce gun legislation recommendations Tuesday, but an Illinois congressman says it's just talk.

U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Chicago), who is for gun regulation, says federal law on guns is wide-open now, or can be easily evaded, and that's the way it's going to stay.

"You can buy a weapon meant for warfare with a 30-round clip of a 100-round clip. When you have an assault weapon with a 30-round clip or a 100-round clip, you're not protecting your home, you're not protecting your business, you're not hunting deer. You are hunting people. Unfortunately, this Congress will not act, and I don't even think you'll see a bill on the floor," he said.

Quigley says the public wants background checks for all gun sales, and limits on assault-type weapons with high-capacity magazines, but he says even when Democrats controlled the House, there was never even a committee meeting on gun control.
