Springfield Crime Down in 2012

Springfield police say overall crime was down in 2012, even if it might not seem that way with several homicides occuring in December.

Crime statistics released this week indicate overall crime against people was down 12 percent, against property four percent. Police say murders and robberies increased between 2011 and 2012, but ten homicides for the year in Springfield is average.

Burglaries, aggravated batteries and sexual assaults were down.
