Murderer of Sangamon County Deputy Back Behind Bars

The man convicted of killing a Sangamon County deputy nearly 40 years ago is once again behind bars.

66 year old Ronald Edwards was arrested January 3rd near the Missouri town of Laddonia after he and another Springfield man allegedly stole an ATM.

In 1975 Edwards was convicted of murdering deputy William Simmons.  Edwards served just half of his 40-year sentence.
