Opt-in Electric Ag Program Adopted in Sangamon

An electric aggregation program has been adopted by the Sangamon County Board.

Electric aggregation is designed to allow companies to find the best rates for their customers who've opted into the program. A resolution passed 24-0 that would allow Ameren customers to opt-in to a program for possible savings. On the November ballot there was an opt-out proposition for electric aggregation. It passed in local communities but failed in unincorporated parts of the county.

According to county board member Andy Goleman, that would have forced those areas into the opt-out program.
