Illinois moves to reduce fraud in Medicad

The state is beefing up its system for determining Medicaid eligibility. Illinois Department of Human Services spokesperson Mike Claffey says the latest data in verification technology will help the state make sure people receiving benefits are actually entitled to them. Claffey says it's important to reduce fraud and waste within the Medicaid system.  Illinois will use an outside vender to help caseworkers check eligibility based on income more quickly, which will reduce the amount of necessary paperwork.
