If you've been struggling to stay awake, but you are trying to get the right amount of sleep, you may need some help determining if you have a sleep disorder. St. John's Sleep Center's Doctor Jerimiah Reedy says sleep apnea could be one problem. Sleep apnea is where your airwave closes while you are sleeping, stopping your breathing for a short period of time, but it can happen multiple times throughout a night. Reedy says if you're overweight, you are more likely to have it. Reedy says other sleep problems can include insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and others. Sleep Centers, such as St. John's can have you come in and test you, to see what's causing your sleep problems.
