A two car wreck yesterday afternoon around 3:47 resulted in the deaths of two women and Illinois 97 being closed down for three hours. Illinois State Police report that 71-year-old Florence Medberry of Petersburg was traveling eastbound when she veered into the westbound lane and her minivan hit a small SUV head on. Medberry and the driver of the SUV, 63-year-old Carol Fritzche of New Berlin both died at the scene. The crash continues to be under investigation.
