Ten Charities Share $10,000

Some local charities received a gift thanks to a foundation's 10th anniversary.

The Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln kicked off its celebration by awarding a total of $10,000 in grants to ten local organizations.

"It's really a broad spectrum of the charitable community we wanted to shine a light on," says foundation Executive Director John Stremstefer. "That's how we've functioned over the past ten years, is being a grant maker to the whole community. We're not just a single issue funder. We have the ability to fund across the whole, broad spectrum."

Among the ten charities were the Computer Banc, SPARC, Boys and Girls Club of Illinois and the Central Illinois Food Bank. Over the past ten years, CFLL has granted more than $3 million.
