Republicans Do Well in Sangamon County.



Republicans overall did well in Sangamon County.  Republicans Paul Palazzolo (County Auditor), Tony Libri (Circuit Clerk), Cinda Edwards (Coroner), and John Milhiser (State's Attorney) all won their races after contentious races against Democratic opponents. 

The contested Sangamon County Board races went to Republicans, except for the 22nd District, where Timothy Moore lost to Democrat Tony DelGiorno.  Republican Jason Ratts over Democrat Scott Saunders in District 10, Republican Mike Sullivan beats Democrat Michael Ziri in District 11, Republican Tim Krell wins against Democrat Mike Crews in District 15, John Fulgenzi (R) wins in District 17 over Jackie Hamilton (D), and Catie Sheehan (R) over Marilyn Mancini (D)in District 28.

The Springfield City Residency question received 29,351 yes votes to 20,654 no votes. 

The electric aggregation issue passed in every village, except in unincorporated Sangamon County, where it lost by seven votes. 

The Ball Chatham School District referendum to extend the tax levy passed.  8,641 (Yes) to 5,059 (No).

Gardner Township voted not to prohibit alcohol.  1,132  (yes to prohibit) and 1,404 (no not to prohibit).
