"Springfield Citizens for Residency" Hit the Streets

"Springfield Citizens for Residency" has been formed and will soon be blanketing neighborhoods with 40-thousand pamphlets about a residency requirement for future city of Springfield employees.

Ward 7 Alderman Joe McMenamin, who's spearheading the effort, says he's not sure if the vote will sway his colleagues to support it.

The November ballot initiative will ask residents if they think the city should reinstate that requirement, but it's non-binding. McMenamin says city employees should live within city limits to support the tax base.
