Quinn Fires Union Boss's Wife

Governor Quinn has fired the wife of a union boss and now some are wondering if it's backlash from the heat the union has been putting on Quinn.

The CapitolFax Blog reports Henry Bayer's wife, Jacqueline Kinnaman was fired from her job as a worker's compensation arbitrator where she'd worked since 2004 and received more than $115,000 a year.  Bayer is the Executive Director for AFSCME Council 31, whose members have protested at many of Quinn's public appearances.

An AFSCME spokeman tells the blog he has no direct knowledge that Quinn's failure to reappoint Kinnaman was retribution for who she is married to but, if it was, it's both unethical public policy and a slap in the face to every woman who has worked to achieve her own independent role in public life.
