Some Construction and Road Closures Notes.

Illinois Route 29 near Athens will be closed starting Wednesday until this weekend to replace a Union Pacific rail crossing. Drivers heading north on Route 29 are advised to detour east on Route 123/124 and take Interstate 55 north to the Mason City exit at Route 10. Weather permitting the road should reopen Saturday.

Crews in Springfield have also announced road work -- beginning Wednesday lanes will be reduced on Wabash Ave. between Montvale Dr. and Chatham Rd. for landscaping work between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Road construction is set to begin in the Park South subdivision this Thursday on Baker, Engineering and Professional Drives -- as well as Linton Ave. and Apple Orchard Rd. That work is expected to last between two and three weeks.
