Ball-Chatham School District Passes Budget with Deficit.

The Ball Chatham School Board passed its budget for the current school year. The board saw a revised version last night that showed an increase in revenue that reduced their deficit spending by over one third. The increases came from final numbers on grant funding that were higher than thought back in August. Chief Budget official Patrick Murphy was happy with the final version.  He says absent the cut in general aid support, the district would have had a balanced budget.  He says cuts in ancillary spending helped them closer to balanced.  The shortfall, which is over 500 thousand dollars, will be made up the the district's existing fund balance.
