Changes Coming Springfield Waste & Recycling.

Changes are coming to the way waste and recycling is handled in Springfield.  You'll still be able to choose your waste hauler, but you'll pay the bill to the CWLP.  Alderman Cory Jobe says this is a way for the city to better track who doesn't have waste service.  He also says the Waste and Recycling fee could go up one dollar to help the city of Springfield continue services residents enjoy.  Jobe says the leaf pickup and bulky item pickup, as well as the Waste Management Coordinator are no longer covered by the fifty cent fee that's been in place since 2000.  The proposal is to increase it a dollar month.  There will be town meetings on the proposed changes, the first one will be Wednesday, September 26th at 7pm at Southside Christian Church.  The other two will be at Wanless School on September 27th at 6pm and at the Dove Conference Center on October 4th at 7pm.
