Cardinals, Peoria Chiefs Announce Affiliation

The Peoria Chiefs are once again affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Chiefs have been in the Cubs organization since the 2004-2005 season, when their affiliation switched from the Cardinals.

The Cardinals have ended their Single A affiliation with the Quad City River Bandits, which is mulling contracts with several MLB organizations.

Chiefs President Rocky Vonachen says Peoria is a great location for a Cardinals minor league team, as central Illinois is a great Cardinals market and it will be easier for scouts to track players due to the proximity to St. Louis.
