Union Protestors Continue to Try to Follow Quinn.

Until further notice, Gov. Pat Quinn’s schedule is the union’s schedule.

Members of AFSCME Council 31 picketed this (Wednesday) morning outside a Springfield hotel, where Quinn was scheduled to speak to a convention. “The people of Illinois, the workers of Illinois, the people who provide public services in Illinois, will be here watching him, acting, whenever he shows his face,” said Jeff Bigelow, the union’s Springfield-based regional director.

Quinn did not show. Bigelow said the union pressure is forcing him to react by changing his schedule, but organizers of the Illinois Digital Government Summit said his participation was tentative at most. Quinn’s office said the governor was never confirmed for the event.
