Sherman Trustees Approve New Police Officers

Sherman has agreed to hire three additional part-time police officers in response to rapid commercial and residential growth.

Clatfelter says once the new officers start working, Sherman will have six full time and six part time officers on staff. He says new sales tax revenues will help pay the new officers' salaries, though he couldn't say how much they'll be paid.

Sherman's population increased by nearly 45% over the last decade, and has seen major business developments including a new County Market grocery store, Walgreens pharmacy and several strip malls.
