Sangamon Co. Sheriff Loses DUI Officer

The Sangamon County Sheriff's office has lost another specialized deputy.  It will no longer have a deputy solely designated to pursue drunk driving cases.

"I think it's just another casualty you can add to the list because of the economy and the budget that we've faced the last four years in the Sheriff's Office," says Sheriff Neil Williamson.

He says that deputy will be returned to general patrol.

He says this cut adds to the cuts of the crime prevention programs, safety programs, the traffic officer, warrant team and the drug enforcement team.
