Illinois Has Fifth Largest Debt In Nation



Illinois has the fifth highest debt in the nation, with a whopping 271-billion dollar shortfall.

That's according to State Budget Solutions, a research and non-partisan advocacy group. "Reuters" reports the total debt for states has topped four trillion dollars, which includes outstanding bonds, pension liabilities, and budget shortfalls.

California has the largest debt, with about 618 billion dollars.
