"Schnucks West" Plan Advances

The Springfield City Council has advanced plans for a new shopping center on the near west side. The plans call for Griffin Woods on the northeast corner of Bruns and Washington to be almost completely leveled in favor of retail development, including a Schnucks grocery store.

Several residents spoke against the plan, noting some old growth trees would be torn down in favor of commercial development. The plans passed a committee and will head to the full council next week.
