Springfield Fire Department extends the local burn ban

The Springfield Fire Department has extended the burn ban within the corporate city limits as well as for all areas protected by the Springfield Fire Department.

Insufficient rain, low humidity, and wind combined with excessively dry conditions over the past few months highly increase the chances of a fire starting or getting out of control.

The burn ban will be effective at midnight tonight and will continue for another week - through next Monday, August 13th at midnight.
