Illinois State Fair Ready for Another Run.

From live music to monster trucks to agriculture demonstrations to red velvet funnel cakes, you’ll find it at the Illinois State Fair between Aug. 10 and Aug. 19.

Officials wanting to get their message out to fairgoers put on a preview Thursday at the fairgrounds in Springfield. The fair is the first for Bob Flider as acting director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture – and a record eighth for Amy Bliefnick as fair manager.

Grandstand acts include Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Demi Lovato, and Cheap Trick. Backflipping monster trucks are part of a “red neck weekend” Aug. 18 and 19. Secretary of state services will be available, as will the state treasurer’s I-Cash program.

“Conservation World” is back for the Department of Natural Resources, and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency will hand out “Abe on a stick” – a fan with a picture of Abraham Lincoln’s face on one side and discounts on the other.
