Illinois State Police are on the scene of a bus crash on I-55 southbound in Montgomery County. IDOT says the accident occured at mile marker 57 just north of Litchfield when a bus hit the concrete median.
IDOT reports several helicopters have been in the area and injuries have been reported, but it's unclear how many. Interstate 55 is shut down in both directions. Drivers should find alternate routes.
State Police and IDOT will be sending northbound traffic to the frontage road at Exit 52 (IL-16) and southbound traffic will be detoured to the frontage road at Exit 60.
