Capital Township votes down single payer initiative.

A single payer health system is one where the health care can be financed from a pool various groups pays into.  One person in Capital Township proposed an advisory referendum be put on the ballot to vote on whether Illinois should go to such a plan.  Capital Township supervisor Tom Cavanaugh says it was voted down. The vote was 15-14 against putting it on the ballot. Cavanaugh, who is also the county's treasurer, says there was a lot of discussion on the issue.
