Springfield Breaks July Heat Record

Springfield set a weather record last month. This July featured 28 days where the high temperature met or exceeded 90 degrees. That beat the all time record, set in 1901.

Chris Miller with the National Weather Service in Lincoln says the heat has exacerbated what could eventually be the worst drought since 1936.

Looking ahead, Miller says August will be similar to July in terms of record temperatures and lack of precipitation.
