CWLP water customers are now under mandatory water restrictions, and more could be on the way.
Aldermen agreed unanimously to limit the operation of sprinkler systems to three days a week... odd addresses on Monday, Wednesday Friday and even on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Residential car washing will be limited to the weekends, and decorative fountains must be shut off. For more info go to cwlp.com.
The restrictions apply to any municipality that gets water from CWLP.
Mayor Mike Houston says such restrictions would fall under stage 3 of the newly proposed drought management plan, which will be considered next week.
Businesses and heavy residential users would be hit with water surcharges if Lake Springfield falls to four feet below full pool, which is Stage 4. Residential customers who use no more than the standard five units of water every month would be unaffected, but businesses with a 1" meter or larger would be charged more for all water, regardless of how much they use. The breakdown is as follows:
STAGE 4: RESIDENTIAL
6-10 units: 10%
Above 10 units: 20%
STAGE 4: BUSINESS
All units: 15 %
STAGE 5: RESIDENTIAL
6-10 units: 20%
Above 10 units: 30%
STAGE 5: BUSINESS
All units: 25%
STAGE 6: RESIDENTIAL
6-10 units: 25%
Above 10 units: 50%
STAGE 6: BUSINESS
All units: 40%
