SFD declares burn ban

A burn ban has been declared by the Springfield Fire Department. Insufficient rain, low humidity, and wind combined with excessively dry conditions over the past few months highly increase the chances of a fire starting or getting out of control.

Fire Chief Ken Fustin says the burn ban will cover Springfield, plus other communities protected by the Springfield Fire Department. Those include Laketown, Leland Grove, Jerome, and Grandview.

The ban goes into effect tonight at midnight and will remain in effect for a week - until Monday, August 6th at midnight.
