I-55 Crash Kills One, Injures Two



One person is dead and two are injured following a one car crash on Interstate 55 Thursday afternoon.

Illinois State Police say the car, driven by 66 year old Anthony Castro of Blue Island, Illinois drove off the road for an unknown reason and crashed into several trees near the northbound Stevenson Dr. exit. Traffic was backed up for several hours and crews responded.

Castro and one of his passengers, 85 year old Elaina Agudo of California, were taken to Memorial Medical Center in stable condition. His other, 94 year old passenger, did not survive. That person's name has been withheld pending family notification.
