Holiday Traffic Safety Enforcement

State authorities are cracking down on drunk driving and other traffic violations over the July 4th holiday.

They're reminding drivers to wear their seat belts and to get a designated driver if they plan on drinking. Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies will be out conducting DUI patrols over the next two weeks.

Last year, 69-percent of the July 4th holiday fatalities on Illinois roadways were alcohol-related.
