A Springfield farmer is traveling to Cuba

Springfield farmer Tom Jennings is going the distance to promote Illinois agriculture. Jennings will join a group of farmers and staff from the Illinois Farm Bureau on a trip to Cuba next week. He says 80 percent of all Cuba's food is imported and the country has many needs. Jennings believes trade sanctions should be lifted in Cuba so that Illinois farmers can begin to meet that country's demand for produce, grains, meat, dairy and agribusiness. Jennings is making the trip to Cuba with staff members of the Illinois Farm Bureau and other farmers from across the state. They will meet with Cuban trade and agriculture officials and visit Cuban farms.
