Illinois Seventh On List Of Excessive Medicare Billing

Illinois is listed among the top ten states where doctors overbill the government for Medicare reimbursement.

The inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says Illinois ranks seventh for increasing their request for reimbursement based on the complexity of diagnosis and care offered. Illinois accounted for three-point-five-percent of the doctors charging higher fees.

California ranked first in the report, with 17-percent of doctors asking for excessive reimbursement.
