Dave Coulier confirms Alanis Morissette song is about him

Full House star Dave Coulier has ended almost two decades of speculation by confirming Alanis Morissette’s break-up anthem You Oughta Know was written about him.

The actor dated Morissette back in the 1990s, and has long been rumoured to be the subject of the 1995 song, which criticises a former lover.

Coulier has now confirmed the lyrics were inspired by their real life break-up and he knew it as soon as he heard the track, telling HuffPost Live, “I called her and said, ‘Look, what do you want me to say to the media when these folks call me?’ And she said, ‘You can say whatever you want.’”

He goes on to explain the line which tipped him off was when Morissette sings, “I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner.”

The actor adds, “We had already broken up… She called and I said, ‘Hey, you know, I’m right in the middle of dinner. Can I just call you right back?’ When I heard the line, it was like, ‘Uh-oh.’
