Illinois farmers have some direction as to what to do in the 13th Congressional District on Election Day.

ACTIVATOR, the political action committee of the Illinois Farm Bureau, announced its endorsement of incumbent U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville). However, challenger Ann Callis was not considered.

“No, that’s not the way our bylaws of our organization are set up,” says district chairman Terry Ferguson, who farms near Clinton. “When we had an open seat, then we review both candidates and make an evaluation.” When an incumbent is seeking re-election, the group only evaluates whether he or she deserves the endorsement. Only if te answer is no is the challenger considered.

Ferguson says Davis, who is in his first term, has a near-perfect voting record on the Illinois Farm Bureau scorecard.
