Springfield Teen Arrested for Tossing Railroad Spikes on I-55

A 14-year-old Springfield boy has been arrested for allegedly throwing railroad spikes off an overpass onto northbound I-55.

Illinois State Police say the boy damaged five cars after throwing the materials off a railroad overpass near Sangamon Avenue. Police chased him back to his residence where he was taken into custody.

He faces a number of charges, including vehicular endangerment and criminal damage to property.
